1.) 600 - Li Yan Chu Writes the First Account of a North American Exploration- Li Yan Chu, an historian during China's Sui Dynasty, wrote about China, the Middle Kingdom, which came together as an empire during the Qin Dynasty, and China's first great explorer Hwui Shan, who came to America 1300 years before the first Chinatowns were founded on America's west coast by Cantonese speaking Chinese. 2.) 1823 - Chinese Entrepreneur Hung Tai Introduces Sugar Mills to Hawaii- Hung Tai, a Chinese entrepreneur, brought sugar mills, to Hawaii, also known as the Hawaiian Islands. 3.) 1850 - Yee Fung Cheung Pioneers California's Gold Rush- During the gold rush, Yee Feung Cheung, fleeing the Taiping Rebellion in China, came to the California goldfields, which the Chinese called Gun Sam, but later practiced tradtional Chinese medicine and cured Governor Leland Stanford's wife. 4.) 1851 - Chinese Invention Revolutionizes Gold Mining- Chinese miners revolutionized goldmining when they invented the rocker box, also known as the Chinese rocker box.
