This episode recognizes three of the greatest in music of the 17th century, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Mozart. Beethoven, for many, is the greatest composer who ever lived; no person's music is more universal. Tchaikovsky was a Russian composer of symphonies, operas, ballets, and chamber music, which remain among the most popular concert and theatrical music in the classical repertoire. Austria's Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a genius composer who spent the last 10 years of his life in precarious independence in Vienna.
