An actor whose Hawaiian name means "cool breeze over the mountain," Keanu Reeves is part English, Hawaiian and Chinese, but he was born in Lebanon. Inscrutable, handsome and very private, he has let his films do the talking for him, choosing a mix of blockbusters, such as "Speed" and the "Matrix" trilogy with smaller, independent films with an edge, such as "Feeling Minnesota" and "Constantine." Early in his career he veered between comedy ("Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure") and action ("Chain Reaction"). Occasionally criticized for his "wooden" acting, Keanu nevertheless has forged on, defying his critics time and time again, not so much for his acting chops, but for his choice of films, most notably "The Matrix."
