Greek food is known to be subtle in flavor, relying on fresh herbs, fruit and grains. Named after the famous painter because his pregnant mother was viewing the works of da Vinci when she first felt baby son kick, the talented actor Leonard DiCaprio got his break in Hollywood at the age of sixteen. Playing the mentally-challenged brother of Johnny Depp in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape," he was nominated for an Academy Award. But it was his portrayal of Romeo in Baz Luhrmann's "Romeo and Juliet" that made him a household name. Leonardo followed that movie up with perhaps his biggest role to date, in James Cameron's "Titanic. " Roles have come and gone since, of course, but one thing is for certain, Leonardo DiCaprio will forever be remembered for standing on the front of the famous doomed ocean liner with his arms wrapped around Kate Winslet.

China was a world unto itself, cut off from foreign contact by its geography. This program examines China's relationship with its neighbors and with European nations. It reports on how, in the early 20th century, China's ancient glory gave way to a new form of government, as it finally adapted to the outside world.
The target language in this series is Mandarin (Putonghau); the official language of the People's Republic of China, is based on the dialect of China's capital Beijing. The Dragon's Tongue is a valuable source of genuine cultural information about China today. Most of the series was shot in Beijing itself, in the authentic settings of public places, recreation areas, and the homes and apartments of Chinese people. Each episode follows a theme such as family life, the daily routine, eating out, and sporting activities. Within each theme, there are documentary segments and dramas about the life of the Wang family in Beijing. Subtitles were avoided in making the program in order to increase students' comprehension skills. Professor Colin Mackerras, who presents the program, is Co-Director of the Key Center for Asian Languages and Studies at Griffith University, a fluent Chinese speaker and an expert on the Chinese culture. The year 1950 was a pivotal year for innovations in air travel, marking the start of the Jet age after the invention of the jet engine by Frank Whittle some nine years earlier. Airlines began to spring up everywhere, catering to the demands of passengers wanting to go just about anywhere, but the flights were domestic only at the time. Pre-war travel was sold as a luxury experience afforded only by the rich, but post war, the emphasis was on comfort and customer service for both the rich and middle class. However air travel was still out of reach for those on a low income. Speed was the key, getting passengers from New York to London or Paris in six and a half to seven hours was the various airlines' biggest coup.
