Louis Armstrong has been called the most important jazz improviser in the history of jazz. Although his New Orleans neighborhood was poor in nearly everything else, it was rich in superb music. Young Louis took it all in, especially the cornet blowing of Joe King Oliver. But after a run in with the police, 11-year-old Louis was sent away to the Colored Waifs Home for Boys where he became a disciplined musician in the school's revered marching band. He was so proficient that by the time he returned to his neighborhood, the King himself became his mentor and invited Armstrong to play with him in Chicago. In a lively text that bops to the beats of the jazz, accompanied by lush watercolor illustrations, this is a joyful tribute to the virtuoso musician and buoyant personality who introduced much of the world to jazz.

Kallakis deployed actors, forged paperwork and faked references to convince a number of banks that he was a global property tycoon with assets in London and Hong Kong. His international playboy lifestyle came to an end when he was exposed and sentenced to 11 years in prison.
The crimes chronicled in this episode include: NOTORIOUS NANNY: In Massachusetts, Louise Woodward an 18-year-old British nanny, was convicted of murder in the second degree of 18-month-old Matthew Eappen. On appeal, her sentence was reduced to involuntary manslaughter. FASHION FELON: Anand Jon Alexander was a celebrity fashion designer who dressed some of Hollywood's most recognizable stars; however, he was arrested and found guilty of multiple sexual offence charges. HOUSE OF HORRORS: 25 Cromwell Street appeared innocuous for many years until it was revealed that its owners, Fred and Rosemary West, had murdered and buried 9 girls and women on the grounds. Fred hung himself awaiting trial, and Rosemary is serving a life sentence. CRIME FIGHTERS: Post-Second World War London saw a boom in the number of Private Detectives and personal security guard agencies. MALAYSIAN WEAPONS' HEIST: Mystic cult group, Al-Ma'unah, claimed responsibility for a daring weapons' heist that left the Malaysian Government embarrassed and on the defensive. All members of the cult were found and arrested. ART HEIST: The National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome was left reeling in 1998 when 3 paintings by Van Gough & Cezanne, worth a reported $30 million were stolen. The paintings were recovered and the crime attributed to one of the Guards.
