Called by some an "Elfin Forest," it consists of oak, sage and scrub; it's also the home of many species of gorgeous wildflowers. This serial swindler also has the dubious title of being Singapore's biggest ever commercial fraudster - stealing a massive $117 million from four foreign banks. His case rocked Singapore not just for the vast amount of money he stole, but because it exposed the dark truth of what an obsession with gambling will lead a man to do. He led a double life as a modest family man and as an international gambler with flashy cars and a secret girlfriend half his age before it all came crashing down.
The crimes chronicled in this episode include: THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY: August 9, 1963, saw the scene of a crime that captivated a nation - an operation to steal millions of pounds in used, unmarked bills. BRIGHTON BOMBERS: British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was very nearly assassinated when a powerful bomb set off by the Provisional Irish Republican Army ripped through the Brighton Hotel. CHRISTIAN SLATER: Actor Christian Slater has appeared in court on a variety of criminal charges over two decades. TIANANMEN SQUARE: Hundreds of protesters were slaughtered in Tiananmen Square as protestors marched for their right to voice opinions and desire for democracy. AL CAPONE: Al Capone's crime syndicate in the 1920's profited from the lucrative sale of illegal alcohol. Named as Public Enemy #1, Capone was also the mastermind behind the Valentine's Day Massacre.
