WRIGHT BROTHERS - On December 17, 1903, Orville Wright sent his father, Milton, a telegram. QUEEN ELIZABETH II - The last king of England and the United Kingdom was the much loved George VI, who ruled from 1936 through to his death in 1952. In February of that year, after surgery for lung cancer, he died from a heart attack at the age of 56. David Robert Joseph Beckham, called "Becks," played the final game of his 20-year career in professional football (called soccer in the US and Canada) on May 18, 2013. He retired holding the appearance record for an outfield player and was the first English player to win league titles in four countries. This profile looks back at the life of the former Manchester United star, who is perhaps the most recognized footballer of his generation. Becks, we learn, had wanted to play football for as long as he could remember, but even he could not have predicted the heights to which he'd rise within the sport or the lows he would plunge to in his personal life, with rumors of affairs threatening to destroy his marriage to his wife Victoria Beckham. However, we see how Posh and Becks managed to weather the storm, moving their family when necessary, and staying fiercely loyal to one another, and to their goals.

We're scaling incredible heights on this episode of Travel Thru History. We visit a civil engineering wonder on the border of Arizona and Nevada - the Hoover Dam. This massive structure not only attracts about a million tourists each year to take in the overwhelming sight, it's also a functioning Hydroelectric Power Plant that works to create environmentally friendly power to Nevada, Arizona and parts of California. We'll take a peek inside the Arizona Powerhouse and learn what makes Hoover Dam such an important piece of American history. Then we'll speak with a professor who knows everything there is to know about America's favorite dam. Many men lost their lives during the construction of it during the Great Depression; all for the hope of developing an area of the country that was a bit sparsely populated at the time. Next, we'll give you an all access pass to a tunnel that was built right into the canyon wall in the 1930s. You'll learn the construction process and that the secret was in the labor force.
