Beginning with experiments in static electricity, introduces atoms, protons and electrons, positive and negative charges. Illustrates the principle of repulsion and attraction of charges. Experiments with a charged comb illustrate electric force and electric fields. Shows how an electroscope works and how charges are measured by this instrument. Electrical discharge is demonstrated by walking across a carpet and touching a door knob. The concepts of negative and positive charges and electrical discharge are applied to lightning strikes.
