Many people think that how they age - if they remain mobile, healthy, and pain free throughout their entire lives - is simply the result of luck. As though there's a randomness to it, or it's a lottery in which only a few winners enjoy golden years of youthful vitality. But did you know that you actually have a choice in how you age? In AGING BACKWARDS 2 WITH MIRANDA ESMONDE-WHITE, former professional ballerina Miranda Esmonde-White uses new and groundbreaking science to help put an end to this defeatist attitude towards aging. In her previous award-winning special Aging Backs, Esmonde-White revealed the power of our muscle cells. Now in AGING BACKWARDS 2, viewers discover the amazing clout of their connective tissue. This vital tissue surrounds every part of us and connects - every muscle, nerve, cell, bone and organ. Keeping it healthy is the secret to remaining youthful at any age. The human body is a powerful machine, but we must choose to keep it young. The fountain of youth is within each of us, and Esmonde-White teaches viewers how to access it.

Now, the two-time Emmy Award-winner embarks on her next journey with her new travel series SAMANTHA BROWN'S PLACES TO LOVE. From Brooklyn, New York and Monterey, California to Shanghai, China and Donegal in Ireland, Samantha seeks out the little-known spots and haunts where innovators and disrupters are creating a brand new travel experience. Whether it's through food and drink, art and design, culture or adventure, at the end of each episode, viewers will have a well-curated list of new experiences that focus on not just how to visit a destination, but how to fully immerse in it. The 13-part series encourages viewers to experience the passion of people and the soul of a place in a way that only traveling can do. Samantha's career as a television travel host happened by accident. A producer spotted her work in a commercial and recommended her to the Travel Channel in 1999 to audition for a new show called Great Vacation Homes. After the fatal drive-by shooting of a young nurse and the head of a notorious crime syndicate threatens to erupt into a full-blown turf war, DI RAY must uncover the truth before tensions spill onto Birmingham streets.
The story began 13 years ago, on a clifftop in Eastbourne. A couple tragically died - but the question has always remained - did the husband, General Ravenscroft, shoot the wife, or did the wife, Molly, kill the husband? Present day, and Poirot has been called in by his old friend Dr Willoughby, whose elderly father, an eminent Professor, has been found drowned in his own hydrotherapy treatment bath - a rather brutal contraption he used decades ago to treat psychiatric patients. Poirot is intrigued by the case, and keen to help his friend, although the doctor himself does seem to be the prime suspect in the eyes of the investigating officer... Meanwhile, Poirot's old crime-writing friend, Ariadne Oliver, is dealing with a case of her own. At a dreaded literary lunch she is approached by one Mrs Burton-Cox, who quite forcefully insists that Ariadne discover the truth about the Ravenscrofts - as her son, Desmond, is about to marry their daughter, Celia - and what if young Celia has inherited the "madness gene"? A haphazard Ariadne sets off on a mission to track down the truth via half-remembered stories from 13 years ago, whilst the methodical Poirot pursues his modern-day murder with quiet logic. Until gradually he pieces together the puzzle, and realises that only when examined together will these two cases reveal the truths which everyone has been seeking - who was murderer 13 years ago, and who is killing again..?

Kelly introduces the season by sitting down with Dr. Atul Gawande, Dr. Lisa Feldman Barrett, and Dr. Dani Dumitriu to discuss mental health and well-being in America today. They speak on three principal factors that play a role in shaping our wellness: nature (our genetics), nurture (the environment we're raised in), and choice (healthy behaviors we do or don't engage in on a regular basis). Our experts add an important caveat that our choices occur within a context. And that context is constantly changing, evolving and shaping our choices, whether we're aware of it or not.
Kelly has a conversation with Dr. Dima Amso, professor of psychology at Columbia University, about how the quality of nurture we receive as children influences our well-being in the long term. Dr. Amso, whose research examines the human brain and cognitive development, gives her take on the challenges of social media, how to be a better consumer of science journalism, and what we can do as society to support childhood development at school and at home. She also shares how what she has learned in the lab influences her values and priorities as a parent.
