Hounded there still by an aggressive police force, they found refuge in a Mafia-run gay bar in Greenwich Village, the Stonewall Inn. When police raided Stonewall on June 28, 1969, gay men and women did something they had not done before: they fought back. As the streets of New York erupted into violent protests and street demonstrations, the collective anger announced that the gay rights movement had arrived.

The world stands on the edge of an abyss as the outbreak of World War II grows ever closer... In an effort to demonstrate international unity, the 'Peace Party' hosts a grand reception, which re-unites POIROT with his good friend JAPP, now Assistant Commissioner of the Met. The illustrious crowd also includes English diplomat STEPHEN PAYNTER, and the French scientist and Peace Party stalwart, MADAME OLIVIER. The American tycoon, and hearty backer of the Party, ABE RYLAND, fronts the event, which climaxes in an exciting game of chess, where he takes on the reclusive Russian Grandmaster, DR. IVAN SAVARANOFF. But the match has barely begun, when suddenly SAVARANOFF collapses - dead! Panic quickly spreads when RYLAND suspiciously disappears. Daily Comet journalist, TYSOE, covers every development in great, sensational detail, claiming the murder to be the work of a group of ruthless political agitators, tagged as the "the Big Four". Then when JONATHAN WHALLEY, the biographer of the Peace Party's Chinese leader, is also strangely and brutally murdered, the Big Four have the attention of HERCULE POIROT and the world. TYSOE is keen to join forces with POIROT - an anonymous source has been feeding the journalist information on the Big Four - apparently a mole from within. POIROT and JAPP decide to pool resources with him when it appears that his informer is murdered - leaving behind evidence which suggests that this dissident and dangerous group is in fact none other than the Peace Party! A theory only reinforced by the disappearances of RYLAND and then MADAME OLIVIER, shortly after the murder of unassuming conciliator PAYNTER. POIROT realises that each of these crimes is so dramatic and expertly stage-managed as to be almost theatrical... and the murderer must indeed be a master of disguise in order to pull off all of such varied and ingenious plans. Through a scrapbook found at WHALLEY's house, he tracks down failing actress FLOSSIE MONRO, whom he believes may unwittingly be at the root of all this bloodshed. However, before he can pursue his theories - POIROT himself is also killed! Or is he..? CAPTAIN HASTINGS and MISS LEMON return for the funeral of their old friend, but of course things are never as they seem, and soon the theatrics of the Big Four climax with a deadly final act - but on whom will the curtain fall this time..?

Told by those who took part, from drag queens and street hustlers to police detectives, journalists and a former mayor of New York, and featuring a rich trove of archival footage, this film revisits a time when homosexual acts were illegal throughout America, and homosexuality itself was seen as a form of mental illness. Hunted and often entrapped by undercover police in their hometowns, gays from around the U.S. began fleeing to New York in search of a sanctuary.

It culminates in a 50-year reunion between survivor and interrogator.

We uncover the story of our relationship with the skies from our earliest ancestors, through to the birth of the science of astronomy. Our story begins with one of the earliest known creation myths - the Babylonian Enuma Elish. With spectacular CGI animation, we see the clash of the gods Marduk and Tiamat that the Babylonians believed gave birth to the earth and the sky. In this episode we visit the caves of El Castillo in Northern Spain. Deep inside the caves we see some of the earliest cave paintings in the world. Astronomer Phil Plait shows us how the skies could be used to navigate and tell the time, either by observing the phases of the moon, or by tracking the movements of the sun across the horizon. We look at Stonehenge and the Great Pyramid of Giza and see that, as our earliest civilisations developed, we built monuments that enabled us to observe the skies and worship them. We visit Ancient Greece, where the great storytellers Hesiod and Homer were populating the world with gods and monsters. That is until the first philosophers started to look at the world not in terms of individual events that showed the actions of living gods in the sky, but as phenomena that were all part of the patterns of the natural world. As philosophy and early science start to reshape the world from mythological to rational, we are on the cusp of a revolution that gave birth to modern science.
