Despite the assassinations of four US presidents (Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley, Kennedy), the in-office deaths of four (Harrison, Taylor, Harding, FDR), the wounding of two (T. Roosevelt, Reagan) and attempts on the lives of several others, before 1963, the unthinkable was unaddressed in the US Constitution. For the first two hundred years of America's democracy, it was not a foregone conclusion that the vice president would step in to replace the president in times of crisis. The office itself has been an afterthought, a punchline, and an Achilles heel for the president. But vice presidents of the United States have also acted as stabilizers, tiebreakers and architects of critical policy despite the office being described by one disgruntled VP as "not worth a bucket of warm spit." So what happens when the President of the United States can't fulfill their duties due to death, illness or incapacity? In this one-hour film, The American Vice President, we will focus in on the fraught period between 1963 and 1976 when a grief-stricken, then scandal stricken America was forced to confront the purpose of the vice president and the succession process through the evolution of the 25th amendment.

The documentary also includes conversations with people who have endured the brunt of hateful speech and actions, revealing the depth of pain and damage inflicted on individuals and wider communities. Amidst deep polarization and prevalent incidences of bias-motivated crimes and rhetoric, LOVE WINS OVER HATE shares a message of tolerance and acceptance, and a hopeful portrait of how people can change their motivation from prejudice to an appreciation of the world's diversity.

In August 1942, the murder of a young Mexican American ignited a firestorm in Los Angeles. The tensions that had been building up for years between Mexican and white Los Angelenos boiled over. Police fanned out across the city arresting 600 Mexican Americans. Seventeen "zoot-suiters" headed to a trial in which prosecutors had little evidence to present.

For the first episode, we meet Kuroda Yukiko, one of Japan's leading kintsugi artisans. Kintsugi is a technique for repairing ware by gluing broken parts with lacquer and painting gold or silver powder over it. In Western cultures, ware is repaired by trying to conceal the broken parts as much as possible to return the piece to its original state. However, kintsugi does the exact opposite by making the broken parts stand out and endowing a work with newfound beauty. It is said that the kintsugi technique originated in the Muromachi period around the 15th century. Kuroda's works, which continue to make use of traditional techniques, are garnering attention from across the world. Come witness Kuroda's precise technique and passion for kintsugi.
