Catalina Island is all warm breezes, Hollywood-style romance, and high-sea adventure. A favorite of Hollywood celebrities, Catalina was used for location shooting in the years before jet travel, when eight Tahitian villages were built along its 54 miles of coastline for the filming of Mutiny on the Bounty. Later, Hollywood producers brought in a small herd of buffalo to film a Zane Gray western, and as a result, Catalina is the home where buffalo still roam. TROLLEY PARK: OUT WEST visits the last remaining trolley park on the West Coast - Portland, Oregon's Oaks Park - which includes the oldest roller rink in the U.S. These parks were born when trolley companies started adding picnic areas, playgrounds and carousels at the "end of the line" to increase ridership on the weekends, helping usher in the golden age of amusement parks. In the early 1900s, there were more than 1,000 trolley parks. Now, only a dozen of the historical pit stops remain.

The adventure continues in Litchfield National Park where she marvels at termite mounds more than 20-feet tall and takes a bush walk through the rainforest to discover fruit bats, edible ants, and a magnificent waterfall-fed swimming spot that is too pretty to miss. Back in Darwin, Samantha tours the Cenotaph War Memorial and relates the story of Darwin's strategic importance as the connection point for a telegraph line that connected Australia to the rest of the world, as well as the Japanese attack on Darwin Harbor during World War II. With its proximity to Southeast Asia, Darwin is home to a rich tapestry of food influences and Sam explores a local favorite at the restaurant ELLA where she samples the insanely delicious food of Chef Minoli De Silva.
