During the 2023 Equity Week, the Hispanic Serving Institute (HSI) Task Force held a panel discussion titled "What is a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI)?" Panelists, including Dr. Glenda Hernandez-Tittle, Professor Henry Caballero, Professor Karen Penn de Martinez, and Karla Silvestre, discussed the significance of Montgomery College being designated a HSI, the process for achieving HSI status, and their vision for the future. They also shared data revealing a remarkable 28% increase in Latino student enrollment across the college. ACES is a collaborative effort among Montgomery County Public Schools, Montgomery College, and the Universities at Shady Grove, designed to provide students with a seamless and supportive pathway to a bachelor s degree.
