Located between 30 and 40 miles off the North German coast, and about 100 miles north-west of Hamburg, Heligoland (Helgoland in German) is a rocky island in the North Sea and Germany's only non-coastal island. It features vertical cliffs dropping nearly 200 feet into the waters below and is the only such formation in the North Sea. Possession of the island changed hands several times between Germany, Denmark and Great Britain. And many of the possessions of the possessors ended up bombed into the ocean in 1947 as Great Britain used the former enemy territory for target practice in what was the largest non-nuclear explosion in history. But the islanders returned and rebuilt this unique place, even making unique jewelry out of the fragments of its past that wash up on its shores daily. Except for two taxis and a police car, automobiles are verboten. But access to the "upper land" (from the port or "lower land") is made comfortable by an elevator cut into the rock. Or there are between 184 and 260 steps on three different stairways connecting the lower port with the upper grazing parts of the island.

In Australia's Northern Territory, gorgeous sandy beaches, delicious food, and iconic animals come together to give visitors the quintessential Australian experience. Samantha receives a traditional Aboriginal welcome to the "top end" of Australia in an oceanfront ceremony that includes a song of friendship, a didgeridoo performance, and native dance. "Auntie Cindy" teaches her how to make damper bread in the campfire and proudly shares the fact that Aboriginal Australians are the oldest continuous civilization on earth. Later, Sam visits a gallery dedicated to Aboriginal art and learns traditional weaving techniques from the artists there. Back in Darwin, Samantha tours the Cenotaph War Memorial and relates the story of Darwin's strategic importance as the connection point for a telegraph line that connected Australia to the rest of the world, as well as the Japanese attack on Darwin Harbor during World War II. With its proximity to Southeast Asia, Darwin is home to a rich tapestry of food influences and Sam explores a local favorite at the restaurant ELLA where she samples the insanely delicious food of Chef Minoli De Silva. THE LINCOLN SCHOOL STORY is a half-hour documentary that examines the little-known fight for school desegregation led by a handful of Ohio mothers and their children in 1954. In the wake of Brown v. Board of Education, school districts nationwide were mandated to integrate. But when African American mothers in Hillsboro, Ohio, tried to enroll their children in the local, historically white schools, the school board refused to comply. Five mothers and their children took the school board to court. With Constance Baker Motley as the lead lawyer, along with help from a fledgling NAACP chapter, they started one of the nation's first civil rights marches to end school segregation. While the lawsuit wound through the courts, the mothers and children marched every day despite threats, cross burnings and job losses. They marched in sun, rain and snow for nearly two years until the mothers won their court case. Their children became the first Black students to attend a high-quality local elementary school. Their judicial victory in the Midwest inspired Black parents in communities across the country.

It's Wash Day today! It's a special time Gabrielle spends time with her Auntie Kayla, as she washes Gabrielle's hair. First, Auntie Kayla combs out Gabrielle's hair and puts shampoo. Next, Auntie Kayla uses warm water to rinse out the shampoo and puts conditioner to make Gabrielle's hair feel super soft and slippery. Then, a big comb is used to detangle and get out all the knots in Gabrielle's curls. For bath time, Auntie twists her hair up in a shower cap. After rinsing out the hair, it gets detangled one more time. Then she puts avocado oil and the leave-in conditioner to make Gabrielle's hair softer and smoother. Finally, Gabrielle picks out a style for her hair that can do so many different things afro, ponytail, box braids, or afro puffs! Wash Day is really special to Gabrielle and her family.

The kids love the shape of this plant, and name it "the Zig Zag Plant." Butterfly Drinks - Insect Day is coming up at school and Elinor couldn't be more thrilled to finish her home-made butterfly costume. However, she quickly runs into a problem, because she can't drink anything when her hands are busy being the wings in her costume! Elinor sets out to solve the problem with her dad by learning how real butterflies drink. After some careful watching, she realizes that a butterfly doesn't even have a mouth, but a proboscis, which looks like a long straw, and that's how they drink nectar from a flower! This gives Elinor the idea to add a super long drinking straw to complete her costume.
