She shares that Bessie Coleman wanted to learn how to fly an airplane but wasn't allowed to because of the way she looked. However, Bessie Coleman didn't give up and went far away to a school that taught her how to fly an airplane no matter what she looked like. With Bessie's courage, she became the very first African American and Native American woman to fly an airplane! Thanks to Gabrielle's show, Elmo and Grover learn that just because they may be the first person to do something doesn't mean that can't do it.
