In this episode Joseph encounters Patrick's history in the grand Roman Catholic and Church of Ireland cathedrals in Armagh, the ecclesiastical capital of Ireland. He visits with fifth century Celts at Navin Centre & Fort and then travels on to other sacred and mythical sites, washing his face in St. Patrick's Well and sitting in the saint's Chair. Along the rugged Irish coast he visits the Giant's Causeway and finds plenty of comfort and good cheer at Bushmill's historic distillery. He travels on to Northern Ireland's capital, Belfast, and tours the University, Titanic and Cathedral Quarters and drops into a few pubs for a pint of Guinness or two to quench his thirst. By the end of his Belfast stay he's prepared to move on to Downpatrick, Patrick's burial place, for all the festivities and celebrations surrounding the saint's day.

At the Ace Neon Sign Museum, Dennis Bringuet recalls memories of the Cozy Dog Diner while he shows Samantha and Christina one of the world's best collections of vintage neon signs. Samantha follows the red brick road portion of Route 66 in Auburn to the Cahokia Mounds, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and home to remains of the most sophisticated prehistoric native civilization north of Mexico. Sam and Christina end their journey with a selfie in front of the old Chain of Rocks Bridge and the mighty Mississippi River just beyond.

Dean Fearing, executive chef at The Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, creates a molasses-glazed duck salad. Fearing recommends buying a fresh, not frozen, duck. He removes as much fat as possible from the duck and bastes it in a molasses and tabasco sauce glaze. As a side dish, Fearing prepares mashed sweet potatoes and roasts carrots and parsnips.

They need more observations, so they head out to the forest, where they look at the leaves more closely and notice that some of them are fresh, others are a little worn, and others are really old and crumbling. The kids also notice some of the dirt on the ground has little bits of leaves in it, and they realize that the leaves that fall on the forest floor eventually get old and go back into the soil, just like the compost that Ari's Dad makes. Snow Friend - Elinor, Ari and Olive are building a giant Snow Friend, but there isn't enough snow to finish their masterpiece. Luckily, the next day brings fresh new snow, but this snow won't stay packed at all - it just falls apart. After they go in the house to warm up, they observe some snow melt and get sticky, and they figure out a solution - warm up the snow! When they put their plan into action, the warm snow has just the right stickiness for packing. Just in time to build a super Snow Friend. Hurrah!
