The Freedom Wall depicts portraits of 28 notable civil rights in American history, past and present, on a large concrete wall at Michigan Avenue and East Ferry Street in Buffalo, New York. The work is about justice. It is about a long struggle. It is about those who have persevered and those who continue to strive toward equality. The artwork was painted over the course of summer 2017 by artists John Baker, Julia Bottoms, Chuck Tingley, and Edreys Wajed. This is its story.
