On June 6, 1944, thousands of Allied servicemen landed on the shores of northern France, tasked with liberating western Europe from Nazi tyranny. Over the ensuing hours and days, the men faced decimating machine-gun fire, mortars and artillery, eventually fighting their way inland, but not before suffering a staggering number of casualties. To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Normandy landing, four D-Day veterans gather at the famed Museum of World War II outside of Boston, Mass. to share their experiences from that fateful "Day of Days." Cameras eavesdrop on their conversations as they vividly recall details from their ordeal - from the perils of the amphibious assault to the invasion's gruesome aftermath. Their interactions with one another yield long-buried, and often painful, memories. They recount their transformations from boys to men, reveal their uneasiness with the term "hero," and grapple with why they survived when so many others did not.
D-DAY AT POINTE-DU-HOC tells the remarkable story of the U.S. Army's 2nd Ranger battalion, led by Lt. Col. James Earl Rudder, which scaled the 100-foot cliffs of Pointe-du-Hoc in Normandy on June 6, 1944 to destroy six German cannons thought to be located there. The 155mm guns, situated halfway between Omaha and Utah Beaches and within firing range of the planned allied assault, needed to be taken out for Operation Overlord to succeed. Many believed it was a suicidal mission for the men involved. Narrated by actor David McCallum (The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and NCIS) and featuring interviews with surviving veterans from the Pointe-Du-Hoc assault, the documentary chronicles the dangerous and daring mission, including what happened after the Rangers fought through machine gun fire, cut rope ladders and lobbed grenades to find that the six artillery guns had been moved from the Pointe in the days prior. What followed was two days of fighting where the outnumbered Rangers held off German troops and prevented them from retaking the strategic oceanside position.

For a few tense days in June 1944, the success of the D-Day military invasion was completely reliant on weather readings taken by a young woman at a remote weather station on Ireland's west coast. THE STORY OF THE D-DAY FORECAST: THREE DAYS IN JUNE includes a special interview with the now 96-year-old Maureen Sweeney - providing a living link to a unique moment in history, where military might and meteorological analysis collided. Sweeney's data threw General Dwight D. Eisenhower's meticulously planned invasion strategy into chaos, forcing him to make one of the most difficult decisions in the entire war. Completely unaware of the significance of her work, Sweeney's readings were the first to point out an impending storm that would lead to the postponement of the invasion. Featuring contributions from Susan Eisenhower (granddaughter of the General), renowned historian Antony Beevor, D-Day veteran Joe Cattini, and a selection of military experts, meteorologists and archive footage, this fascinating documentary paints an incredible picture of Ireland's previously unknown role in one of the most pivotal events in world history.

Following his very successful first program, Dr. Josh Axe returns to public television in an entertaining new presentation to share cutting-edge health and nutrition advice based on his new book The Keto Diet. In his familiar upbeat style, Dr. Axe puts his own fresh spin on the widely successful and well-researched keto diet. Unlike many fad diets that come and go with very limited rates of long-term success, the ketogenic diet (or "keto diet") has been practiced for more than nine decades and is based upon a solid understanding of physiology and nutrition science. The program showcases delicious food and recipe options. It includes a demonstration of how to make Dr. Axe's preferred keto-friendly, gut-healing smoothie recipe. Dr. Axe clearly outlines the great benefits of the keto diet beyond fasting and weight loss: reduced risk for type 2 diabetes, reduced risk of heart disease, resistance to brain and neurological disorders, and more. The keto diet works for a high percentage of people and it targets several key, underlying causes of weight gain, including hormonal imbalances. This is especially true of insulin resistance coupled with high blood sugar levels. The keto diet also ends the cycle of restricting and binging on empty calories that so many dieters struggle with. That cycle is often a result of hunger, which is not a factor on the keto diet, as the list of approved, satiating foods is long.
