Reid has finally captured Nathaniel Dove and, in doing so, has rid Whitechapel of its most feared monster since Jack the Ripper. His capture of Nathaniel clears the name of the late Bennet Drake. It does not, however, prove the innocence of Reid himself, nor of Jackson. For that they must bring down Assistant Commissioner Augustus Dove. With Jackson's help, Reid must find sufficient forensic evidence to prove to Drummond - now in charge of Leman Street - that Dove killed the boy Robin Sumner. But it won't be easy. Dove has covered his tracks well. And Drummond is not so easily persuadable: he has thrown his lot in with Dove and so - despite his need to win back Mathilda's affections - Drummond will prove tricky to convince.
