Anna Smith Strong (1790-1812) was a fearless woman who acted as a spy for George Washington during the Revolutionary War. Recruited by Washington's spymaster Major Benjamin Tallmadge, she joined the Culper Ring, a group of American spies. General Washington placed a huge amount of trust in his spies, and Anna helped pass him important messages at great risk to herself and her family. One of her cleverer devices was to hang laundry on the line in a planned fashion so that other spies could read the "message." Had she been discovered by the British, she would have faced jail or execution. Thrilling and dramatic, Anna Strong tells the story of how one brave woman helped change the course of American history.

The basic terms of geometry are presented as building tools. New terms: point, path, line segment, line and ray.
Major concepts... non-standard measurement units and estimates. It reinforces the notion that reliable measurement units can be derived from representational objects in the everyday world (apart from the human body, which is covered in Rule of Thumb). Visual proportionality is introduced, and children learn they can calculate measurement even without rulers, tape measures, etc.

This "rockumentary" charts the amazing story of one of the greatest rock bands in the world, the Rolling Stones, chronicling their first gig at the Marquee Club on July, 12, 1962, the line-up changes, the famous rivalry between the Stones and the Beatles, and their meteoric rise to fame and notoriety. From the beginning, trouble followed the band wherever it went, with numerous drug busts, in-fighting among the members of the group, and offstage antics with groupies. Brian Jones, the founder of the group, left after feeling displaced as the decision maker, and the band replaced him with Mick Taylor. Sadly, Jones was found dead on July 3, 1969. Since then, the Stones have gone from strength to strength, despite continuing drug busts, the tragic concert at Altamont Speedway, and the high profile love-life of Mick Jagger. In recent years, however, the Stones have concentrated on their live shows, still giving 100%. Despite their collective age, it looks like the Rolling Stones will keep on rolling for years to come.

Flying became a bigger feature of life all around the world, not just as a novelty "adventure" for rich people but as a mode of transport available to just about anyone. And it's still the safest way to travel!

Indeed, she's built up an impressive CV which includes modeling, singing, acting, song-writing, the writing of her autobiography, fashion designing and the launch of her own perfume. Her knack for turning celebrity into cold hard cash has meant that she has her fair share of detractors, who accuse her of making money out of being famous, but all the criticism doesn't seem to faze her.
