But when he turned 13, he received some devastating news: He had a serious medical condition called hepatitis B. According to the World Health Organization, it's a viral affection that can attack the liver. Although he didn't have any symptoms, David struggled with his condition at first, becoming withdrawn at school and refusing to commit to proper treatment.
